Dinner near Versailles?

Any worthwhile places after we spend the day exploring? Or should we just head back to Central Paris...

There are some wonderful places to eat, but I think it might depend on your definition of worthwhile. Except for Les Trois Marches at the Trianon Palace (you would probably want to bring a change of clothes unless you%26#39;re touring in a jacket and tie), there aren%26#39;t a lot of super upscale dining experiences that you couldn%26#39;t have back in the city that are close to the Chateau. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but for the most part you%26#39;ll find cafes and brasseries. La Flotille, located on the grounds, is actually a very good restaurant, and is open until the parc closes, so you could pack a picnic lunch for your afternoon break, and then go to La Flotille at the end of your day before you take the train back. Their 26€ menu generally consists of the quintessential fare of %26quot;tourists%26quot;, (Faux Filet, Confit de Canard, Boeuf Bourgingnon) so it%26#39;s not that innovative, but what they have is good. Le Quai is also excellent if you like seafood.

The problem you%26#39;ll find with the better restaurants is that, just like in Paris, they won%26#39;t open until 1900 or 1930h, so you may have to kill some time before you eat, which could make for a very, very long day if you plan to arrive early at the Chateau.

How about if we are staying the night and really need something open that late?

thanks for the informative post-- when I say worthwhile, I mean a good atmo and good food... but casual since we%26#39;ll be trolling through the grounds all day.... I will also say that I am a veggie-- so, some places may not be the best for me.... I like the idea of taking a picnic though!
