I%26#39;ve not visited Nice, or France for that matter, for about 20 years, and am thinking of visiting this autumn. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much one might spend on a fairly simple meal there these days, please? I have simple tastes, not gourmet ones! Many thanks.

I have bumped up my posting of the restaurants we ate in Nice last month.It was our first visit together (doesn%26#39;t count when you were a child!) and we loved it for a short break,great easy quick flight,and straight into the centre of Nice where we stayed in the hotel suisse - right next to the old town,so pretty with its market,shops and restaurants,loads of choice and not expensive.
Hope you get to go this autumn.

Nice is probably one of the cheapest places on the Rivieira. Reasonably priced restaurants (10 - 15 euro main course) are ten-a-penny.
Drink, on the other hand, can be quite expensive. Stay away from Irish or English bars.

Just think that you can enjoy a delicious 3 course meal in Nice for between 11€ and 21€ with a demi-litre of house wine costing an extra 8€ and you will realise that it is much cheaper than anywhere in the UK to eat out. And, of course, the ambience, views and weather are all free!

The English and Irish bars are not too bad from noon -9pm they usually offer happy hours pints at 3.50euros and after that 5.50/6.00euros. Most cafes charge 5.50euros all day, as for meals a main course onle for 10/15 euros, you can get very good pizzzas for 8/10 euros.
