Breakfast for first timers.

We just booked at the Brighton, and would love some ideas as to a great breakfast cafe that is affordable in the area, or just dining in general. We are a younger couple, and have no preconcieved ideas as to what to do for meals so far. We are thinking coffee and pastries, but are generally light eaters, opting most ofetn to split dinners and lunches, or just go for tapas type foods. We want to eat on the cheap. and splurge on shopping!

Thnaks for any ideas!!!!!

Where is the Brighton located?

You can often do breakfast at a Patisserie--some have seats to sit down and have coffee.

it is on The Rue de Rivoli, opposite the Tuileries...

The French don%26#39;t %26quot;do%26quot; breakfast as Americans do. It is just coffee and croissants or bread. A few hotels offer breakfast, and I%26#39;m sure the Brighton must, and some also add cereal and eggs, but not many. If you take any side street headed away from the Tuileries Garden you will come upon many places serving coffee and croissants. Some just coffee and you can bring in your own pastries from a boulangerie. There are many places up and down Rue du Rivoli as well and there is always Angelina%26#39;s, famous for their hot chocolate but it isn%26#39;t cheap.

You%26#39;ll find so many pastry shops you won%26#39;t know what to do with all the choices. Just grab a croissant and sit in the Tuileries! Breakfast is much easier in Paris because there are so many boulangeries/patisseries around. No worries.

Walk up to place du marche St Honore; it is lined with little breakfast, brunch and dinner places. Pain au quotidien is especially popular for their Sat and Sun brunch, very French: lots of croissants and pastries, chocolates and jams, etc. Barlotti is nice for dinner, also Place du marche.. Don%26#39;t forget to check out the bar on the 3rd floor. Colette is your shop for one stop shopping, nice for lunch downstairs in the Waterbar. 213 rue St Honore. Angelina%26#39;s has hot chocolate and pastries to die for, on rue de Rivoli, right next to le Meurice. About 1 1/2 blocks from your hotel. Enjoy!!

I think Brighton charges 10e pp for a rather average breakfast- sounds like you%26#39;d do better to hit a bake shop! I have heard a legend of pistachio/chocolate croissants, but don%26#39;t know wherethey are found. Alas, I heard it upon my return and have fantasized ever since. Are these easy to find or a rarity I wonder- not that the plain chocolate ones were bad, you understand...
