Narrowed it down to 5 hotels.. please help decide!

After a week of heavy searching, I have narrowed it down to these choices for budget hotels (we need a triple) From the info I gathered, all areas seem ok but I%26#39;m wondering if some are more desirable than others. I was aiming for Eiffel, Latin Q, or Montparnasse. Which one would be best 3 girls visitng Paris for the first time this summer?

Your opinions would be much appreciated!

1) Hotel Tourisme (Motte-Piquet metro area, has AC)

2) Hotel Cactus (Volontaires/Pasteur metro) http://www.hotel-cactus.com/index.html (this is the only one including breakfast)

3) Hotel Odessa (E.Quinet) paris-hotel-odessa.com/English/Location.html

4) Hotel Excelsior (Luxembourg) excelsior-paris-hotel.com/English/hotel01.htm

5) Hotel de Senlis (also Luxembourg) paris-hotel-senlis.com/english-France-Hotel-…

We just returned from Paris and stayed at the Hotel Muguet which was just written up in the New York Times as being one of the best small %26quot;chic%26quot; hotels. It%26#39;s actually a 2 star that should be a 3 star. Check out their website. It%26#39;s totally non-smoking, in a very quiet location. and a three minute walk to the metro.

You%26#39;ll love Paris!

I did look at Muguet and while it looks great, the price for a triple is well beyond our budget (170 for a triple) and we are aiming for 100/night.

Right I%26#39;m just most curious as to which area is best to stay in..

The Odessa is litterally in the heart of the thriving area that surrounds the Tour Montparnasse. It%26#39;s young and hip with tons of restaurants right outside your door. One of my favorite cheap eats in Paris is practically next door at 13 rue d%26#39;Odessa called Pizza Cotti. The hotel is a 30-35 minute walk from Notre Dame, and definitely within walking distance of popular areas like St Germain and the QL. Metro stations like E. Quinet, Gaite and Vavin are all close enough to the hotel and can put you on different lines to take you just about anywhere you want to go in the city.

The Excelsior and Senlis are a little closer to tourist central, and if you plan to spend your evenings in the very popular QL, you%26#39;ll have a much shorter walk home. Metro transportation isn%26#39;t quite as convenient as the Odessa, but if you%26#39;re planning to save money by taking the RER into the city from one of the airports, either of these two hotels will be a much shorter walk.

The Excelsior ranks higher on TA than the other two (it%26#39;s the only one under 1000 out of 1700, although just barely.

If it were my first time, I wouldn%26#39;t consider the other two unless all of these three aren%26#39;t available...but that%26#39;s just me.

The Senlis and the Excelsior will probably be quieter than the Odessa (except for the recent complaints about construction noise at the Senlis).

If I were picking the hotel as a first-timer and basing it solely on location as my first priority, I would chose the Excelsior or Senlis. Then I would read all the reviews on here and other places you can find them, and go with your gut. Even though the rooms look nicer at the Excelsior, I%26#39;m kind of in love with that cute little breakfast room at Senlis.

That%26#39;s my two centimes.

For the sake of practicality any hotel around Luxembourg is very good for getting to and from the airport(s), being on the RER B train line. The Luxembourg gardens are a really lovely place to spend some time out from sightseeing and just relax and well within walking distance of many of the major sights in Paris.

I do not think that you could do much better than this area for what you are looking for.

I would mention that A/C might give added weight to any choice you make, and I don%26#39;t recall that Senlis or Excelsior have it.

Did you look at Hotel Andrea Rivoli? It has a/c and what looks like a triple for 115E. It%26#39;s in the 4th near Hotel de Ville.
