Favorite spots in France, Belgium, Netherlands, and German

Getting married and stressed about planning the honeymoon!

Would really appreciate your suggestions for destinations we should hit on our 10 night honeymoon from July 23-Aug 2

Flying into and out of Brussels.

We are currently thinking 2 nights in Amsterdam, 3 Nights in Paris, 1 Night (the night before our flight) in Brugge.

That leaves 4 nights for extra fun. Where else should we go? Could you please help by briefly describing what the places are like and why we might like them? I%26#39;m really no expert on this region!

I%26#39;m thinking perhaps Loire Valley, Nice, Normandy (is that really just for history buffs?), Germany, or London?

We like to get up and get the early trains, and we are in our late twenties with lots of energy.

Thanks so much!

How about dropping the number of destinations rather than adding more of them? Maybe just Brussels/Bruge and Paris?

With ten days, don%26#39;t forget you might need a get-adjusted to jet lag day, since the 9-hour time difference from the U.S. West Coast is pretty significant. And you%26#39;ll need your last night to be close to your departure airport to make sure you get through security on time.

And it%26#39;s been twenty-some years since I%26#39;ve had one, but my recollection is that wedding planning and having a wedding/reception are exhausting endeavors! Don%26#39;t you want some time for relaxing too? Each new destination you travel to means another morning of packing up, getting to the train station or driving the car, and checking into another place.

I know it%26#39;s so hard to cut out places when they are all so exciting and inviting--and I%26#39;m not always able to follow my own advice here. But my bias would be to leave some of those mornings for leisurely sipping coffee at sidewalk cafes, or cuddling up in your hotel room before going out to dinner!

Thanks for your reply. Point taken....but if we were to go crazy and squeeze more in, I%26#39;d love your top suggestions.

We just returned from a trip to Italy that was 9 days and included the Cinque Terre, Florence, Tuscan Hill Towns for 2 days, Rome, Venice, and Lake Como. Best 9 days of my life, but a trip most wouldn%26#39;t recommend. We like to be on the go!

I recommend a minimum of two nights at each place you stay.

Have you been to any of these places before?

Paris could be kind of hot in the summer, sweaty at minimum. Be sure your selected hotel has a/c (climatisee) otherwise it may be quite miserable.

By selecting Amsterdam %26amp; Paris, should I assume that you like the city scenes? Brugge is a little city. IMO, Nice and London are a bit out of your way. The Loire or Normandy would be a challenge without more time and without a car.

If you like cities, from Amsterdam or Brussels, taking the train to Aachen or Koln (Cologne) could make a good 2 nt excursion. Both Aachen and Koln have big famous cathedrals. Aachen%26#39;s was Charlemagne%26#39;s stomping grounds. Koln is right on the Rhine River. Its cathedral is GIGANTIC. Climbing to its top is kind of fun. From Koln, you could catch a scenic Rhine River cruise for a few hours and see some of the castles along it. It should be quite beautiful in July-August. The German people seem super friendly too...bonus. And don%26#39;t forget the outstanding beer. If you go to Koln, it%26#39;s a fast Thalys bullet train ride from Brussels.
