Clothing in September

Dear forum:

I read many entries in this discussion and am still confussed what clothing is appropriate for men and women in September? Jeans? Shorts? T-shirts? What is considred normal on Nice%26#39;s and Monte-Carlo streets in September. Your expertise would be greatle appreciated.

The weather will still be quite warm in September, so light clothing will be fine. In terms of fashion, wear whatever you feel confident and comfortable in. In Nice, really any fashion or style goes. Men should wear long trousers to dinner in the evenings but shorts are fine during the day.

Greetings rqel46,

All of the above! As a precaution, every once in awhile, mention must be given as to the awareness of petty crime during tourist season specifically. When strolling, if you%26#39;re carrying any type of bag with straps, sling it across your body, not just hanging from one side, preferably with the bag towards your front. Also, do not carry your original passport, but make a photo copy, and carry that one. Leave the original in the security of your hotel. Don%26#39;t walk down dark uninhabited streets if unecessary. These comments are not to frighten, but just made to make sure that your trip is totally without stress. Now enjoy!!

Nice is entirely eclectic, but for Monaco - well, if you don%26#39;t want to stand out like a sore thumb, something casual/ smart would be more in order.

For the Monegasques, dressing well is one of the pleasures of life, or, more properly, shopping. Business school/preppy/Hilfiger sets the right tone. Cashmere sweater draped over shoulders, with sleeves loosely knotted around neck. Maybe a stripey shirt and slacks and dark glasses . Or for the older man something more classic, perhaps camel trousers with a brass-buttoned blue blazer and club tie. Looks right stepping out of a classic car...

Alternatively like most day-trippers - its chinos, trainers, t-shirt with a silly logo, rucksack, and baseball cap rotated backwards. You will at least blend in, even if with the wrong half.

I suspect this may not have been the answer you were looking for, but think about it....

Cheers!
