Air France Meals

I have read several complaints about Air France on the forum, but we used FF miles to book our tickets, so I can%26#39;t complain about what airline I fly. On the overnight trips from US to Paris, what meals are served....dinner and breakfast? How is the food? Should I request a childrens meal for our 9 year old? Thanks.

Probably similar to Air France flights Toronto to Paris where they served a choice of a couple hot items (meat/fish), and a mini-baguette, cheese and dessert. Drinks -- champagne, wine, after-dinner cognac are included, so it makes the whole affair more festive (of course this is not for the children). Overall, its pretty standard airplane fare. There is a light snack-type breakfast served as well. People with special meal choices get their food first if that helps.

Well, I flew Delta to France but AF actually did the return flight. I enjoyed the food on both flights. They serve 2 meals and 1 or 2 snacks. I can%26#39;t remember exactly, but I%26#39;m assuming it was breakfast and dinner. I do remember being surprised that I was pleased with the food. It was my first time eating airplane food.

Hmnn . . . if you%26#39;re more used to flying domestically, %26quot;standard airplane fare%26quot; would be peanuts or nothing!

We recently flew the overnight from DC to CDG on Air France (5/7/07). The meals were better than average airline fare in that the food was appropriately hot/cold, the wine was reasonably good and plentiful, and on the 777 self-serve snacks and beverages were available in the galley throughout the flight.

We were served: nuts, a baguette %26amp; cheese snack with drink of choice, dinner (meat or pasta option, salad, cheese, bread, dessert) with drink of choice; and a light breakfast (breads, cheese, yogurt, coffee). Food was actually fresh and pretty tasty.

If you are flying coach and want to be served early, then pre-order any special diet and you%26#39;ll be served before the standard fare. In business special meals seem to come out in order of seating.

Bon voyage!

Everything said before plus:

It is the little things...when flying other airlines they usually just have foil rather loosely on top of the hot meal item. This tends to not keep it as hot and anything(pasta, potatos)around the edges gets a little hard or overcooked. AF has metal tops that are rather secure keeping things hot and more uniformly heated. You can actually eat the salad item or pate first and the main dish remains hot.

But if you do not like your main dish choice, the other food, and the amount of it on the tray should do you until the next meal. There is a wedge of chees, bread, the first course is more than just a green salad, sometimes yogurt, dessert, and sometimes an additional sweet like a cookie.

Breakfast I do not generally eat the pastry(its been on the plane probably refrigerated for hours and the real thing is now deliously close!) but again there are several items, yogurt or fromage blanc, granola like stuff, juice, etc. to hold you over.

Snack on return is a small sandwich(3 or 4 bites) and several sweets again if not the yogurt and cheese.

Never travelled with children, I guess it depends on your child .

We flew AF last summer from NYC and it was great. They fed us all the time and constantly came around with drinks. The food was very good going and coming back. I think the food would be fine for a child unless they are extremely picky and then you might want to pack some snacks.

run26.2, I always Pack lots of snacks for my kids when we fly, it helps pass the time and hoping the food will be ok for the kids is always a shot in the dark. I like to a pack couple of lunchables in a soft cooler (lunch box size) that they keep in backpacks. Also individual packs of peanut butter crackers, cookies so on. The beverage cart is something they always look forward to. I also bring a cup with a lid and straw to keep the drinks safe from spilling on us all.

Have a great trip!

Hi,

Has anone had a vegetarian meal with AF? flying overnight to Mauritius, and ordered lacto-ovo veg meal. Any info welcome, as their website no info on meals and does not give examples like other airlines.
