I%26#39;m lost. Are you saying you booked a TGV train from Paris to Montelimar or have you started your journey outside France and have booked a Eurostar train into France and then further on to Italy? When is your trip from Paris to Montelimar?

I just checked on TGV trains from Paris to Montelimar for tomorrow and there are several available.

Need more detail to try to help.

Re-read post. Sorry, I posted before having my morning coffee. Never a good idea.

So you booked a Eurail Passes for your travel in Europe right? Did you get seats assigned on booking? Did you pay in full for your passes? Do you have them with you? If so, I don%26#39;t see how they can tell you you don%26#39;t have seats. Are they telling you you don%26#39;t have seats on ALL the trains or just one leg?

How did you find out your passes are not usable? What agency did you book through?

Coldparis - got your PM%26#39;s and PM%26#39;d you back.

Hi coldparis

I responded to your TA mail and I am sorry I could not do more

Best wishes and wishing you the best of luck

Please let us know how things work out!

Yes, after having read a great lot on the Eurail website, apparently just buying a Eurail Pass does not necessarily mean you have secured seats on trains. It appears that most of the TGV trains need a separate reservation for seats and further payment. I didn%26#39;t look at any of the other countries train schedules/rules. Just France.

I had heard before to be careful booking Eurail passes. Have to read all the fine print.

Hope the OP has worked it out today.

toutou and faux - I am reading through posts trying to plan our first trip to Paris and came across this post. I just want to say that was very kind of you to help them out. I had a really hard time understanding what was going on. You didn%26#39;t have to try to help because it was so confusing, but you tried your hardest and that was VERY nice of you both. We need more people in the world like you. Again, thanks for your kindness.

It is always a pleasure to help if I am able. In this case, I don%26#39;t think that was the case. I%26#39;m not sure what Coldparis did in the end. Last email conversation was that they were going to return the Eurail Passes and suffer the 15% return fee and just book their train tickets locally as they traveled. Not sure if that is actually what they did.

Their story was slightly complicated. I have to admit I wonder how they got on. Never heard from them again.

If you are booking Eurail Passes, I think it is a good idea to read, read, read all the information on the site.

Nearly all railpasses require you to pay a supplement to travel on the high speed trains, where seat reservations are obligatory. Also on night trains you must always pay a supplement for couchettes or sleeping compartments.

We booked our seats at the time we bought the Railpass, makes life easier..
