Spemding a couple of days in Bordeaux over the weekend of 14th/15th July - anyone got any suggestions of things to see and do or specific events for Bastille Day?

Might not be to your taste but Bordeaux has the official museum of the World War 2 French resistance (which I found very interesting on a wet afternoon last year) butthere are several others:
The Musee des Beaux Arts, located on the Cours d%26#39;Albret,
The Musée d%26#39;Art Contemporain (CAPC), located on Rue Ferrere
The Vinorama de Bordeaux, located on Rue De Medoc, is a museum dedicated to the fruits of the vine.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs, located within the Hotel de Lalande , is devoted to the finer things in life.
Musée National de la Résistance de Bordeaux, located on Rue Vital Carles
There%26#39;s also a preserved battle-cruiser Colbert moored on the river.
As July 14th is a public holiday some attractions may be closed.
A good source of information is the official Bordeaux tourist office website at http://www.bordeaux-tourisme.com/uk/
A one-day pass for bus and tram will be invaluable in getting about the city. The centre contains many fine old buildings well worth a walk or two.
Hope that helps.
