Is this comfy?

Here%26#39;s what i was thinking -

-arrive Orly friday 6pm, stay one night somewhere between orly and orleans.

-move towards amboise for three nights and spend the days exploring the chateaux, vineyards, etc in the area

-head to brittany for three nights to drive parts of the coast, browse/buy ceramics in quimper, see MontSM, possibly play on the beach for part of a day....

-head to chartres for one night to browse the town and see the catedrale.

-then, fly back out of Orly Saturday evening.

What do you think? is that a reasonable time to spend in each location? should i stay in the LV for only two nights and extend brittany a night? or vice versa? We don%26#39;t need to see EVERYTHING in each area, we just want to get a feel for places. we%26#39;re not big into museums and structured tours... we just like to meander and walk away having had a taste of the Life of an area...

any input would be much appreciated.

by the way - how hot should it be in the middle of August?

I wouldnt bother staying %26quot;between%26quot; Orly and Orleans - it%26#39;s only one and a half hours driving, and there isn%26#39;t much on the way. Think of it as driving from Chicago to Rockford or Napoli to Benevento.

Drive to Blois, stay a couple of days. Then move to somewhere like Angers or Saumur for another day or two. This won%26#39;t allow you to taste the life, but you will see some of the sights.

Do your Brittany trip but be aware it will probably be a 5 hour drive from Saumur to Quimper, all on Autoroutes, or 7 hours with scenery.

Stop off in Chatres on your way back, only staying the night of you get there late (which you probably will - its at least a 4 hour drive, allowing for stops, once again on the Autoroute) . I have no idea how long this trip would take if you want it with scenery.

When we flew into Orly a few years ago we decided that we did want a one night stay fairly close by for the first night . (when you lane you have to deal with luggage retrieval, car rental and/or pickup, gettimng your beearings etc.) We stayed in Barbizon which is about 30-40 minutes from the airport . It is a lovely town with lots of charm etc. We stayed at the Cle d%26#39;Or which we founf to be very nice with a very helpful staff. When you arrive in France, you could push yourself and make in to the Loire but we always find that it is better to take it easy on arrival day and then set out fresh the next day.

take the extra day in Brittany. maybe visit Locronan. When in L V try to see Saumur. Nice restaurants and shops and castle.Mary. Co. Kildare.
