Just back from Paris - loved Le Coupe Chou!!

Hubby and I just returned from our first trip to Paris. I lurked on the forum for months gathering restaurant suggestions and tips. Thank you to all the regulars who posted on all the topics. You gave me so much advice my husband even commented on how prepared I was!

We dined at Le Coupe Chou in the Latin Quarter twice in one week. We LOVED it! The place is so quaint and romantic. The first evening we were seated on the first floor, but the second time we dined there, we were given a seat on the second floor in a little alcove near the twisted staircase. It was like heaven to be there on our last night in Paris. Many thanks to all who suggested this charming place (and the food was great too!). Dinner for two the first night (entree, plat, demi of wine nd dessert was 86 euro) and the second night we added a cheese plat and went up to a bottle of wine came to about 110 euro.

We also dined at 1728 on night as some forum members called it a very romantic place. While the food was excellent, we felt underdressed. Every one else in the place was in jacket/tie or fancy dress. We felt a little out of place. Cost for dinner was about 150 euro for 2 (entree/plat/bottle of wine and 1 dessert).

Thanks to all!

Hello ,

Would you remember the street address for Le Coupe Chou ? We are staying near the Pantheon in September.

Sounds so fascinating !

Thanks

Yes, 1728 is a very nice place and men do need a jacket. I do think it is an excellent value.

What in the world was that deleted message about? I can only make a guess.

I%26#39;m glad Le Coupe Chou worked out well for you. I had a casual, relaxing meal there two summers ago and remember it fondly.

I get the feeling that you preferred the simplicity of dining at Le Coupe Chou than at the more formal 1728.

I have looked at the website and still couldn%26#39;t tell for sure - are they open for lunch also? Are reservations necessary? Thanks - my apologies if the answers were right in front of me!

We had reservations for the first night we dined there (which happened to be a Sunday night). The second night we dined, we had no reservation (Friday night). We arrived about 7:30 or so, before the crowd. The restaurant did fill up, so depending on what time of year you are going, you may want to make a reservation. I don%26#39;t know if the restaurant is open for lunch. Get the salad Coupe chou. The bacon is to die for! I could have made a meal out of the salad alone. Hubby had the salmon and I had the beef burgundy. Both were fantastic.

We didn’t get a chance to dine at Le Coupe-Chou last year when we were in Paris, but we plan on it this time around. We are leaving for our European holiday next Friday-yeah!!!! What is the dress code at le Coupe-Chou; should I bring a suite jacket or can I get away without one? As we’ll be traveling through several countries before we head to Paris, (our last stop) we want to go as light as possible with luggage.
