L'Ambroise

L%26#39;Ambroisie bumped our Saturday night reservation the weekend after the election despite our phone confirmation: l%26#39;ordre francais!

I was appropriately indignant but not mal elevee; they finally got us a cab and an immediate reservation at Laurent: a very shabby substitute. Vicious!

Think of it this way: you probably saved yourself a few hundred euros.

What excuse did they give? They are one of theses restaurants that will only take reservations precisely one month prior to the meal.

I am interested since we are planning a inner there.

Thanks.

We made the reservation more than a month in advance, with the considerate help of my wife%26#39;s quebecoise assistant, and verbally confirmed by telephone ( je fais de ma mieux) two days in advance when in Paris.

They pretended they didn%26#39;t get the second confirmation.

Their door captain, went to great pains to call everyplace open in the Red Guide to get us a reservation and called us a cab ( I was really angry): but Laurent (the substitute) was an American ghetto rather like eating at Epcot.

This was the second of only two dreamy meals planned as we had an apartment for a week with a kitchen near rue Daguerre. Number one was L%26#39;Astrance: an absolute dream!

It is interesting that you made yours more than a month in advance as they will not take reservations more than a month before for dinner. That is an iron-clad rule of theirs no matter what the occasion. We have a French friend who lives in Paris who is waiting to call them precisely a month before our desired date. They told her exactly when to call.

Sorry they messed up your confirmation but you have now posted this exact event multiple times.

Would like to here about your meal at L%26#39;Astrance as we are going there as well.
