Favorite Eats

How about listing your favorite Paris cafes, bistros, restaurants, etc.

Sure!

For special events: Pierre Gagnaire at hotel Balzac. Most creative chef in Paris IMO.

On a regular day: Casa dell%26#39;Estelle on rue de Castellane has the best thin crust pizza with goat cheese and arugula.

My top ten change weekly, and most of my regular haunts are very close to home, so that we don%26#39;t have to get a sitter. I can%26#39;t wait until they are older and we can go further afield.

L%26#39;Ace de Falafel on the rue des Rosiers

Le Bambou in the 13th (vietnamese)

La Cuisine de Bar (open-faced toasted sandwiches) on the rue de Cherche Midi (lunch only)

La Cigale Recamier on the rue Recamier (souffles)

Les Bouquinisites for an elegant night out

Brasserie Lipp on boul St Germain... sometimes nothing but pig knuckle will do (this one is touristy, but it is also a favorite with many locals)

Chez Vincent in the 19th (italian)

Relais de l%26#39;Entrecote in the 6th (steak frites with the kids)

Au Babylone and/or Au Pied de Fouet on the rue de Babyone for a bustling traditonal meal among neighbors

Le Cafe du Mairie on the Place St Sulpice for their roast beef plates.

L%26#39; Ambroisie, Place des Vosges, Saving up already for our 25th Anniversary next year!

Fouquets, Champs Elysees, people watching, papers and Brandade de morue, or pot au feu perhaps

Positano, Lovely Italian restaurant, Rue des Canettes

and many, many others!

Best wishes

Thanks. I%26#39;ll let you know how we like them and if we find any others.

L%26#39;Ambroisie bumped our Saturday night reservation the weekend after the election despite our phone confirmation: l%26#39;ordre francais!

I was appropriately indignant but not mal elevee; they finally got us a cab and an immediate reservation at Laurent: a very shabby substitute. Vicious!

|||

i looked up Les Bouquinistes%26#39; website, it looks really nice.....but i am not sure how to get there, where abouts is it exactly? we are going to be in paris in june, would you recommend reservations?......as a side point i notice that someone is quite upset about their bumped reservation because it seems to be on every posting :-D

Hi Jordina,

Les Bouquinistes is on the Quai des Grandes Augustines, near to the Pont Neuf, and booking would be recommended. You can do this via the web site. The cooking really is very good.

By the way a big hello to Perth (the brightest/cleanest city we have visited)!, and our many friends and family in Sawyers Valley!

Best wishes
