London Paris in July but then what?

Should we go to Scotland, Wales, Ireland

OR

Should we go to Brussels, Netherlands, West Germany

OR

Should we go to Provence

We are doing mostly trains. Which of these are the best for scenery, fun for 30/40 somethings, and overall experience?

Thank you

it is not possible to give you a good advice if we don%26#39;t know how much time you will have to spend in europe, and what you like to do/see :)

Thank you...appreciate your response.

We are spending a day and a half in London (been there before), three days in Paris (first time), and we have four more days.

We like wine so we were thinking about the train to Provence and then a drive back up through wine area.

But the Western towns in Germany and Brussels seem like they would be wonderful. We like scenery.

And of course the Ireland and Scotland appeal to me. The castles, the rolling green hills.

So as you can see, we can%26#39;t decide which direction to head!

So we are looking for fun, things that make you say wow, and the best experience.

Are you comfortable with the idea that three days (4 nights?) will be sufficient for your first visit to Paris? Not much time to get to know one of the world%26#39;s most interesting and enjoyable cities. I doubt you%26#39;ll have time to do much but rush about from one standard tourist sight to another. If you stayed in Paris you could do always do some day trips (such as to Versailles or Giverny) or even an overnighter to Normandy. It%26#39;s the busiest time of the year in Provence so unless you like lots of crowds and traffic I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it for, again, such a short visit.

Totally agree with Roger %26#39;s advice .. 3 days in Paris .. it is not much ! just buy a guide book and you will se all what you can do and see there and around .. Provence is far from Paris , unless you take a flight , it is too much time by train or car for only 3 days .. So , my best advice would be ... Paris! and perhaps a trip in Loire valley to see wonderful castles or in Normandy around Honfleur , Deauville (can be done by car easily)

enjoy your stay :)

From Paris the closest wine region would be the Champagne area, or you could go over to Dijon - but if you follow the advice to go to the Loire Valley for the châteaux (which I second), you can visit vineyards there too.

Brussels is only 1h22 minutes away from Paris by Thalys which is expensive unless you can book some time in advance, see www.thalys.com (if you spend the night, try to make it a Friday or Saturday when hotels are cheaper). It%26#39;s another 3 hours from there to Amsterdam.

In my opinion with only 4 days to play with, you really don%26#39;t have time to get to AND see anything worthwhile in Germany, Scotland, Wales or Ireland. At all events you would have to pick ONE, fly to e.g. Dublin or Edinburgh, and do day-trips from there. However, if you can work out exactly what you want to do (I see no point in anyone else giving their personal preferences, they might not be yours!) then you should ask in the forum for the relevant country.
