I was there for ten days over Christmas 2004 and loved it.

The decorations are more low key than in the US, but are there. If you are getting a flat, you actually can find small Christmas trees at the flower market on Ile de la Cite (but sounds like you%26#39;re not going to be there on Christmas Day?).

The churches all have chreches (sp?), often apparently made by children -- all are different, but fun to see.

There are lots of musical events, often in churches, around that time (check Pariscope when you arrive, or just look for posters all over the city).

In 2004, there was an ice skating rink at the Eiffel Tower (although most people in Paris did not seem to know that -- we knew because we saw something about it in the San Francisco paper before we left!), also in front of the Hotel de Ville.

Have a good time!
