Trip to Corsica

Hi, I am traveling to Corsica with my husband for 6 days the second week of July. I was wondering is anybody has any suggestions on where to go with such a limited amount of time and what to avoid/skip. We%26#39;re in our thirties but not much into the club/nightlife scene, we prefer the beach and sightseeing but not hiking. And we%26#39;re going by car arriving and leaving from Bastia. Thanks!

It%26#39;s generally agreed on this forum that the best introduction to Corsica is Calvi and the coastal resorts along the coast through Algajola to L%26#39;ile Rousse. Here you have good beaches and opportunity for touring in the Haute Balagne and towards St Florent and even Cap Corse. A big plus is the coastal tramway along the coast which enables you to explore lesser known beaches without a car. And the road from Bastia to Calvi is a good and easy introduction to driving in Corsica. The is lots of info on this forum if you do a search.

Thank you so much!

I have just noticed you are from New York, so I should point out that you will find Corsica very different. The population of the whole island is about 250,000 of which nearly half live in the two towns of Bastia and Ajaccio. The next largest town is Porto Vecchio with 9,000 and Corte with about 7,000!

That%26#39;s not to say that it is primitive, far from it. The hotels are generally of a high standard and the scenery just out of this world, as are many of the roads! Supermarkets aboud with a selection of local products - great for picnics, and if you are a drinker, the local beers and wines are very drinkable. Eating out is very enjoyable. With the weakness of the dollar, you might find it somewhat expensive, but I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll feel it%26#39;s money well spent.
