Will hotels hold packages for you?

We are attending a wedding in Provence with our 1-yr old. Needless to say, this means bringing formal clothing, which = more baggage. I%26#39;d like to ship the wedding attire ahead of time to our hotel in Bonnieux. Has anyone done this with success? The person who arranged our accommodations thinks this is a bad idea...she fears they won%26#39;t hold the package or it would get stolen. I%26#39;ve also heard you can send a parcel to the local post office, where it will be held for you. I%26#39;m really just trying to avoid bringing more than 1 backpack per parent total, because we%26#39;ll be touring around for 1 week prior to the wedding, and with a carseat and other baby baggage, schlepping wedding stuff around Paris and Provence seems ridiculous, car or no. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You don%26#39;t say how much advance notice you have. I personally think it is a big risk to ship the attire. I have had pkgs sent to me from the U.S. that have been delayed by customs and not arrive to me for 2 months. Here again, I have had pkgs arrive in 2 weeks un touched by customs. So, it is a matter of the draw.

The person arranging your accommodations is correct to warn you. If you speak with the owner of the B%26amp;B and feel comfortable that they will take care of the pkg once it arrives, you could consider it. I would say only if you have at least 6 weeks lead time or more. If you do do this, I would be prepared with a back up plan if the pkg never makes it to you. If you are willing to go to the expense of Fed. Ex. - not sure how big/heavy your pkg is, they operate pretty widely in France. It would most likely cost you a bundle though, but you could get it insured and track it.

I can understand not wanting to add to the load. You know if you rent a car here, the rental agency will provide a car seat.
