Shipping excess luggage back to australia from France

Hi all

My wife and I are on an extended around the world holiday. Currently, we are staying in southern France but will be moving onto North America at the end of June.

Between the purchases we have accumulated in Europe and the need to bring winter clothing for Europe we now have too much luggage to lug around the world.

We would like to send some of it back to my son in Australia before leaving France. My attempts to find a method of doing this on the web have been confusing to say the least.

I hope with the collected knowledge of people on this forum I could get some advice. Any asistance would be welcome.

regards

When I faced a similar problem about 6 years ago I used Mail Boxes Etc. Their prices were similar to that of the national postal service and they provided all necessary packing materials and customs forms. I do remember that we could not send the actual suitcase but had to repack everything in boxes which we supervised at their office. I don%26#39;t know if the people we dealt with were unusually accomodating, but we literally arrived at the office with our suitcase and sorted out everything there. You can purchase different types of delivery services but we used their general postal service with no problems. In the more distant past, I have had things sent home through the French postal system. Packages arrived over a 2 to 4 week period but everything was fine and intact. This last time everything arrived within two weeks and I had used the cheapest service available. However, on no occasion have I sent anything that was rather fragile.

We%26#39;ve shipped boxes using Air France in the past. You might want to contact them to see what their current rules are on shipping goods. When we did it, there was no need for the shipper to be a passenger. We arranged it through their cargo shipping department.

You can always pick up a couple of boxes, pack them up and send them via La Poste. Could take a while to arrive, but it is a second option.
