food on the tgv

we are traveling from Paris to Nice on the TGV. Can anyone tell me what food is likely to be available? Should we buy food before we get on the train or is the food on board reasonable to eat and reasonably priced? More importantly will I be able to buy a beer?

They do sell beer and wine. You can get a sandwich (ham and cheese usually) a croque monsieur, pizza, etc. You can get chips, candy, It%26#39;s not great eating, but it beats a lot of airline food these days.

You can always bring your own sandwich aboard as well, but if you can%26#39;t it%26#39;s not a big problem, they have food.

Yes you will be able to buy food, nothing fancy, but not so bad. There are several menus, not only sandwiches : also hot meals as pasta or chicken with vegetables, and cakes, yogurts, fruit salad, etc as dessert. Yes you can buy beer, they have 1664, Kronenburg and Heineken. They also propose a cold meal in a bag, that you can take to your seat.

BUT :

- It is rather expensive. The cheapest %26quot;menu%26quot; with sandwich/croque- monsieur is around 10€ ; You will pay 14.90 € for a menu with a hot meal (beer included but add 2.30 € for a coffee).

- You will probably have to queue at rush hours.

I personally think the food on the TGV%26#39;s is pretty much like vending machine food. Not so good.

I always pack a small picnic and take it with me. Lots of people do this.
