Day trip to Paris in November

We would like to go Eurostar from St. Pancras when it opens on the 14 November. We are thinking of spending a day in Paris and going somewhere nice for lunch. Perhaps on the Champs Eleysee. Can anyone suggest a reasonable restaurant or hotel for lunch. Any other suggestions to do during the day.

Thanks

Firstly assuming that you want to get the cheapeast Eurostar ticket yoyu can get your hands you need to book on the internet at 1 minute past midnight 120 days in advance of your return journey date. So this would be sometime in mid-July. You should then be able to get the much advertised £59 return ticket.

Secondly - you need to get yourself a tourist guide with a good map of the metro. Traffic in Paris is on par with London - but happily the metro system is probably better. On arrival you need to buy youself a %26quot;carnet%26quot; - 10 tickets for the metro. You should be able to speand the whole day happily travelling around the metro and easily get to all the places that you may want to go.

Thirdly why do you want to go to go to the Champs Elysee? Being the well known street in Paris it is an expensive area- a bit like going to a restuarant down Oxford Street in London. In my opinion the better resturants can be found in Saint Germain du Pres. You can easily get there on the metro from Gard du Nord - straight through - cannot remember the line number think it is line 4 - it is teh purple one that runs from North to South. I quite like the Vagenende.

Though if you want to book in advance over the internet the Petit Zinc is also very nice.

All the restuarants in Paris have fixed lunch menus that are very good value for money.

In terms of what to do. You could see all the major sites - Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur etc. Or you could take in some of the wonderful galleries - the Louve or Musee D%26#39;orsay etc. The rodin museum is worth a visit.

Or you could just sit in a nice corner street bar/cafe and order a glass of wine or a coffee and watch the world go by.
