Hello all,
We will be traveling from the ferry port at Calais in june,on route to Evian les Bains.
Need advice on where to have an overnight stop.
Need somewhere about 3/4 hrs drive from Calais----as not to have too long a drive the next day.
Cheers

Whenever I travel in France I use the Logis de France network as these hotels tend to be family run guesthouses in the main. 3-4 hours out of Calais on the road to Evian will put you somewhere around Troyes if you sticking to motorway all the way through.

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
We are looking at Troyes or Chalon-en-Champagne,never having been to either place before--don%26#39;t know where to choose.
We are traveling on a sunday,so i guess it will be quiet most places.
Thanks,
Mary

It%26#39;ll be quiter than July %26amp; August that%26#39;s for sure, if you looking at Châlons/Troyes you shouldn%26#39;t have any problems as this is really the French desert there isn%26#39;t much around between the 2 locations. I stayed in Arcis-sur-Aube on the way down to Provence one year, nice and quiet but don%26#39;t expect any nightlife

Hi there,
We have stayed at the Royal in Troyes - cross the road and you are into the old town and Le Renard in Chalons en Champagne. Both are Logis de France. See reviews in Tripadvisor.
