I have followed Morgan B%26#39;s instructions, but I get a %26quot;technical problem%26quot; notice when I try to book the nonstrop accommodations on sncf.com. My two young adult daughters and I hope to sleep without an interruption for a train change. The raileurope and eurail sites don%26#39;t even show this particular train; sncf does. Help, please! This is for travel 29 May. Thanks so much.--Swimfan Houston

Hi Swimfan Houston,
I am planning the same trip from Nice to Florence on the Euronight train from Nice Ville leaving at 9:07 and we are travelling 2 days after you on the 31st May 2007. I found this website railkey.com which is more user friendly than perhaps the other sites you have been to.

I used Rail Europe to book an overnight train from Paris to Florence a couple of years ago. It worked okay, but I think I had to call them to get help. That said, I would not do it again unless I just couldn%26#39;t stand losing the day it would take to get there otherwise, because it was a miserable trip (very cramped quarters, miserably uncomfortable bunks, no real food service and there were very long lines for what little was available, at very high prices -- if we had known, however, we could have brought some snacks and bottled water with us).

Thanks to both of you! I did have to call sncf to get our reservations--same train that you are takig Footloose F. And, thanks for the tip, Berkeleys--we%26#39;ll be sure to take food and water. Sounds like an adventure! Merci.

We just got back and took this exact train trip. We rented double sleeping compartments, were very tiny but clean. Upon arriving they did provide a bottle of water, and did give us coffee and a roll in the morning. There are 2 bathrooms (toilet/sink) at the end of the car, and a double sleeping compartment has its own sink, with hand towels provided. There is no dining car.
The one thing that was tricky is that the train was never listed on the board as going to Florence. Train #369 was listed twice, as going to Venice and to Rome. We walked along the train until we found a car on it which had a %26quot;nice to florence%26quot; sign posted on it.
Enjoy your trip!
