how to fill in one night without a hotel reservation

Our 16-day trip in France is set for: Arles for 4 nights, Carcassone for 1 night , barge trip for a week and then to Lyon for three nights . We have one night (between Arles and Carcassone reservations) that is %26quot;open%26quot;. Would love to have suggestions for a neat place to stay. (Will have a rental car).

I like very much the region near Montpellier, where I warmly recommand a very charming guesthouse :

I like Sète, it is a very special place with the canals. Have a look :

In Sète, I would stay at the Grand Hotel:

Closer to Carcassonne, you have also nice B%26amp;B in castles : browse this website : http://www.likhom.com/anglais/bed-and-breakfast-accommodation.asp?city=carcassonne%26amp;department=aude(11)%26amp;area=Languedoc-Roussillon

At about 5 .30 get off the Autoroute (if thats what your using) and drive through some smaller towns. When you find a nice looking place, park the car in the central square/market place.

You will find most reasonable towns have a Logis de France hotel, which are usually good value, clean and comfortable, with a good restaurant. Unless youre travelling in a peak season (long weekend/religious holiday) you should have no problems finding a room.

Sounds like we could not go wrong with any of the suggestions. Thank you for your responses. We leave 03 June and cannot wait!
