How long should it take for us to get to Versailles from our hotel on Rue de Rivoli, just opposite the Tuileries. We have a metro station about a block from the hotel. What do you think is a reasonable amount of time to spend there?

If you plan on taking the RER - it will take about 45 minutes. Quite packed in the am until you get on the outskirts. Versailles is just a short walk from the station. The lines are huge, it is better to arrive early. You could easily spend the whole day there. There is a lot to see.
